Panavia Tornado IDS -50° Stormo Gallery.

My newest plastic model kit. It’s an Italian Tornado, one of the few active variable geometry wing aircraft. It was a bit hard to model, especially the movable wings (yes, they are not glued in place!). Hope you like it :)

    It’s very detailed!

Did you paint it, too? Or was it prepainted?

I no longer have the dexterity to do stuff like that… *sigh* Still have some model packages sitting in my attic, completely untouched, gathering dust…

Hm… now that I re-read the name of the plane… I realized that I once worked for that company. *gg*

That was in… 1985, I think. Doing data typing. Nothing to do with the manufacture at all, only entering data into the computer. ^^ But it was Panavia. I just remembered… *gg*

    Glad you like it! :)
I had to build and paint it all, it took me a good 3 weeks to finish (I was taking it slow with this one). They are so fragile once finished tho, so I really, really need a book case with glass cover or something…

You did scale modeling?? :O What models do you have stored?

Also, awesome you worked for Panavia! It is a company that was created back in the 70s between the UK, West Germany and Italy to develop the Tornado (the kit came with decals for all 3 versions). So you guys also have a lot of Tornados in the Luftwaffe ;)

Wow! So you did all the work! That’s really amazing! I love how much time you put into that…

Ages and ages ago, yes. ^^ Lost most of the finished ones in my various moves. Hm… I could go up into my attic and look tomorrow. The light’s almost gone so I won’t be able to see much up there this evening. I’ll take a few pics.

Yes, I remember seeing Tornados flying over when I was younger. These days, you don’t see them as much. Some have been replaced, and the local military airport is mainly geared towards transport planes. *BIG* transport planes. ^^ But it was kind of exciting knowing that I was working for the Tornado company. *gg* Even though the work was boring. :)

LOL awesome, I can’t wait for the photos! I bet you have some real interesting vintage models ;)

We don’t have any exciting military aircraft in Mexico, aside for one single squadron that owns 10 Northrop F-5E/Fs, they are light fighters. There were talks about importing a few Sukhoi SU-27s or F-16s, but of course, it was just a rumour. Still, they are just for ‘extreme defense’ situations, not to go to war. So I guess we really don’t need them :P
