Scale Models
Another one of my hobbies besides drawing is scale modeling. This hobby consists on building plastic models made on smaller scale of almost anything from real life and fiction; in my case, I love building aircraft models.
Here I’ll post pictures of my latest works. I am not an expert or anything, but I enjoy doing this since I find it a very relaxing and interesting art form. I hope you enjoy them, and I’ll keep updating when I finish more!
Manufacturer: Bandai - Scale: 1/100 - Color: Original prototype scheme. A Bandai EX Model, it comes in great quality even for a small scale. This is a fictional prototype plane from the Sentou Yousei Yukikaze OVAs, an amazing design I must say! The plastic is flawless, the kit is a "snap-on" but it also needs some glue. Overall, an amazing build.

Manufacturer: Italeri - Scale: 1/72 - Color: Original dull black. One of my favorite aircraft of all time, the F-117 was the first stealth attack plane the U.S. developed. It's unusual diamond shaped body helps reflect radar detection, altho it is very difficult to handle. It was retired in 2006.

Manufacturer: Italeri - Scale: 1/72 - Color: Metallic ghost grey camo. I was finally able to build Mobius 1 from Ace Combat 4! Sadly, this Italeri kit is very outdate and based on the first F-22 protoypes, so it's sorta a prototype Mobius 1. I still tried to emulate the metallic sheen used on latest F-22 models, mixing metallic colors with acrylics. The kit was upgraded with Eduard photoetched set and Verlinden resin seat. Decals are custom made.

Manufacturer: AMT/ERTL - Scale: 1/72 - Color: Transformer Starscream. This model is part of an F-15 national build group that I was invited to participate. Since I didn't want to go with any traditional F-15 aircraft, I decided I should convert my kit into a representation of my favorite Decepticion: Starscream.

Manufacturer: HobbyBoss - Scale: 1/72 - Color: camo pattern from 9K+BN, 5./KG(J) 51 "Edelweiss". My first WWII German model! I chose the first operational turbojet in history to start. I still doubt I'll want to build any piston engine planes, I don't like the propellers... the construction was easy and quick. The camo was a bit complicated to reproduce, since the scale is so small I had to do it with masks instead of freehand with the airbrush. Still, looking good!

Manufacturer: Italeri - Repack: Tamiya - Scale: 1/72 - Color: Russian Gray/Green gray "blue 10". A light Russian airfighter, the MiG-29 looks like a small version of a SU-27. The kit had a lot of fitting issues, a lot of putty filling and sanding had to be done. I used a Pavla resin cockpit for extra accuracy. The paint job was fun to do :)

Manufacturer: Zvezda - Scale: 1/72 - Color: Geometric camo "what if". One of Russia's fifth generation aircraft that got cancelled, this delta wing also features 2D vectorial nozzles and front cannards. I was actually going to build it OOB, but in the end I decided it would be much more fun to do a "what-if" plane. This is my take on a fully functional prototype, including testing air-to-air R-27 missiles!

Manufacturer: Hasegawa - Scale: 1/72 - Color: Ocean camo (8th Squadron, Misawa base) -Aftermarkets: Wolfpack resin seats, resin exhaust nozzles, Hobbydecal dry transfer decals and metal pitot tube and AOA sensor. This Phantom is a Japanese "Kai" version, a modified plane manufacture by Mitsubishi under McDonnel Douglas license. The aircraft was used in the JASDF (Japanese Air Force) for many years, until it was retired in 2008. This blue camo makes it a very special version of the classic Phantom. The kit was a pleasure to work with, excellent fit and quality! Also, this one won first prize in a local modelist encounter! Yay!

Manufacturer: Italeri - Scale: 1/72 - Color: Italian camo. This plane represents a unit from the 50° Wing located in San Damiano, Piacenza, Italy. The kit has movable wings, but I had a few problems making them work properly. The camo was fun to paint, the real problem was the metallic paint for the belly.

Manufacturer: Dragon - Scale: 1/72 - Color: Classic grey/white -Aftermarkets: Pavla resin full cockpit, ACE photo etch set. The Sukhoi Su-24 is a supersonic, all-weather attack aircraft developed in the Soviet Union. I chose to build mine with a heavy air-to-ground configuration and both fuel tanks installed. The wings can be posed in a closed or open position, as well as the canopy. A huge Russian aircraft for my collection :)

Manufacturer: Italeri -Repack: Tamiya - Scale: 1/72 - Color: SU-34 blue camo -Aftermarkets: ICM missile kit. An aircraft that started as a two-seat trainer but developed into a strike fighter. The SU-34 is Russia's improvement over the SU-27 and the aging SU-24 for a strike bomber/fighter. The version I built is a demo presented in MAKS 2001, with naval-ground strike capabilities. The model was built OOB, but some kitbash and mods were needed to accurize it.

Manufacturer: Italeri - Repack: Tamiya - Scale: 1/72 - Color: Ace Combat 4 "Yellow 13" gray camo. This was originally an Italeri SU-27 B2 (naval version). The kit was sold as a SU-27 with only some badly shaped front canards you could attach to the fuselage. Bad, bad Italeri. So, armed with courage, I decided to modify it and convert it from a SU-27 to a SU-35. My goal was to recreate the antagonist of the AC4 videogame.
